Richmond Systems, Inc. was formed when our sole proprietor company “Richmond Engineering" merged with our C- Corp “Specialty Steel Fabricators, Inc." in July 1997.  Richmond Engineering (Sole proprietor) was founded by George and Wendy Richmond in 1989 and subsequently Specialty Steel Fabricators, Inc. in 1994 to manufacture our engineered designs for material handling systems.  An offshoot of this business became ornamental, miscellaneous, and structural steel to fill in between the machinery orders.  From 1989 to 2001, our company sustained 20% growth annually. Richmond Systems, Inc provides three distinct services or products shown as follows:

Specialty Steel Fabricators

Specialty Steel Fabricators provides steel product in a bid environment.  We work as a subcontractor to major General Contractors or directly for the customer. Our product runs the gamut from heavy structural steel columns and beams to simple residential rails and fencing.  We currently have steel products in various schools, jails, city halls, federal buildings, churches, office buildings, state facilities, wastewater treatment plants and residential properties throughout Western Washington.

Richmond Engineering - Manufacturing

Richmond Engineering provides design engineering and manufacture of material handling equipment nationwide and Canada.  Our expertise is in designing custom equipment solutions for each customer's specific material handling requirements.  Customers include Armstrong, Georgia Pacific, Weyerhaeuser, Simpson, Boise Cascade, Jefferson Smurfit, Albany International, NorskeCanada, Kenworth, and Containers NW.

Richmond Engineering - Consulting

Richmond Engineering also provides consulting services in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering for the building industry, servicing private, commercial, and governmental clients in the Pacific Northwest.  Examples of customers include United States Postal Service, Longview School District, Tacoma Community College, Dept. of Parks and Recreation, Div. Of Fish and Wildlife, numerous local Architects, Div. Of Engineering & Architectural Services, Thurston County, Elma School District, Highline School District and residential customers.
