RGD
RGD-Rapid Gravity Dewatering
The RGD Rapid Gravity Dewatering system from Richmond Engineering is the most economical means of dewatering sludge without the need for expensive and high maintenance equipment, such as centrifuges or presses. The RGD System offers savings over liquid sludge hauling by dewatering the sludge prior to transporting and reducing the hauling costs by up to 70%.
Using polymers to facilitate solids flocculation, the RGD System utilizes an inclined dewatering screen to retain the solids while allowing the effluent to run through the system. One RGD 105S System can reduce up to 20,000 gallons of 1% sludge to 2000 gallons of 14% dried cake solids per day with over 99% captured solids.

The RGD System consists of three major components in one self contained system:

  • Polymer Injection System
  • Filter Screen
  • Dump Bed

Polymer Injection System

  • 200 gallon polyethylene reservoir
  • Zero shear polymer pump
  • Adjustable polymer feed valve
  • Flow through mixing chamber provides sanitary mixing of polymer and sludge

Filter Screen

  • 304 Stainless steel
  • Wedge wire screen prevents clogging
  • Easy sludge removal and clean up

Dump Bed

  • Push button, hydraulically actuated
  • Provides easy discharge of sludge with minimal operator contact

RGD System Highlights

Fast Sludge Dewatering: A single RGD Gravity System can dewater 15,000 to 20,000 gallons of 1% municipal sludge per day.
Minimal Operator Attendance: Minimal operator attendance allows for more productive utilization of operator time.
Simplicity of Operation: Does not require a specially trained operator.
Minimal Mechanical Complexity: Patented gravity design involves few moving parts resulting in a highly dependable system.
High System Up-Time: Many replacement parts are readily available through use of “off-the-shelf" components.
Low Purchase Cost: A complete RGD System sells for a fraction of the cost of other dewatering systems.
Simple Installation: Installation is simple and can be completed using standard fittings and electrical accessories.
Low Operating Cost: Minimal labor and energy consumption plus uses significantly less chemical polymer.
Low Maintenance Cost: Gravity dewatering affords economical drying with no motors, bearings or belts to maintain.
Easy Sludge Removal: Direct cake discharge to truck or haul-away container.
Easy Clean-Up: Simple wash-down takes less than 10 minutes, with easy access to underside of filter media.
Small Space Requirement: Entire system fits within an 8' x 24' area.
Portability:
System can be mounted on a trailer so that two or more locations can be served by one unit.
